Forestry Economy Development and International Cooperation in Mountain Territories (Sichuan, China)
A practical case
In Sichuan, China, mountains, hills and plateaus consist 90% of total territory 485000km2 The mountain territories are rich in natural resources, including land, forests and mineral resources, however, economy is underdeveloped and income is lower for local farmers. In mountain territories, selecting multi-use species, establishing plantation, and developing forestry products, with international cooperation, would be helpful to promote economical development, increase local farmer’s income, while to accelerate ecological restoration. Implementing of Sino-Italy cooperation project “Forestry Development, Soil Protection and Improvement of the Livehood in the Sichuan South West Mountain Areas (PRC)” is a practical case of international cooperation beteewn Sichuan and Piemonte with preliminary successe. By the cooperation project, local truffle resource protection and truffle product development are promoted, the Italian appropriate biotechnologies (controlled mychorrization) are extended in Panzhihua Municipality, plantation with mychorrized seedlings was established. The objectives, main contents, cooperative mechanism and some preliminary results were illustrated in a power point presentation.
